So Close to First Place

The Sox inched closer to first place last night by finishing off a series sweep of Toronto. The weather was warm, the fans were happy, Bay hit another home run and most importantly, Jon Lester looked like the pitcher we know he can be.
Mets tonight!

A Monkey Off His Back

I have to say, I like David Ortiz. Not because of his on the field heroics over the past five years (not that that hurts) but because he is a funny guy. He has a sense of humor. He somehow doesn't seem to take himself too seriously and is always getting those around him to laugh. And, yea, I like to laugh. Who doesn't? So I root for the guys like that.

That is why I (along with the entire front office) were really pulling for Big Papi to pull out of his slump. Last night he finally did it. Floodgates? I hope so.

The only show in town

Well, now that the Bruins and the Celtics have been eliminated from the playoffs Boston is back to being a one-sport town for a while. Baseball season has now truly begun.
I'm just about over the fact that the Bruins got eliminated. I had a couple of nice photos from the game that I was going to post on this blog but the way the game ended (the life got sucked out of the garden when Carolina scored the winning goal) soured the whole experience for me and I haven't even looked at the photos yet.

Here are some shots from last night's 2-1 win over the Jays. Not the greatest game I've ever seen...but I'm happy for the win.

B's Tonight!

All is still quiet here at Fenway and I'm loving every second. Going to see game seven of the Bruins/Canes game tonight and plan on bringing some camera gear...so hopefully I'll be able to post some good hockey pics by this time tomorrow.

Thought I would dig into the archives to post something to keep this blog going while the team is away...this pic is from sunrise on opening day.

All is Quiet at Fenway

With the Sox on the road (and me not with them) the front office is getting a little bit of extra rest as Fenway Park sits empty. This is the first time in a long time there doesn't seem to be any major construction projects going on around here. No jackhammers, no baseball and that is okay by me...for now.

For Mom

In honor of Mother's day there was a lot of pink on the field at Fenway Park tonight- pink bats, pink catchers gear, pink wrist bands, etc...
Mom, these pics are for you. I was thinking about you tonight... sorry I could not make it home. Happy Mother's Day!

High Score, Quick Games and Obscure Records

Last night had to be the fastest 16 run game in the history of baseball.
12 Red Sox batters came up and ALL scored before Boston made it's first out more than a half hour into the bottom of the sixth. Despite that the game was over in 2.5 hours and the Sox walked away with a 13-3 win over Cleveland.
Boston Broke the AL record of 11 runs in an inning before making an out and tied the modern major league mark of 12-and accomplished the feat without Youkilis, Jacoby and Ortiz.
Go figure.

Branching out

I got a chance to shoot game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals last night at the Garden.
I don't do too many basketball games so the change of pace was nice.
Strange to see a big win like that when Paul Pierce only scores three points and KG isn't even suited up, but I'll take it.
Rondo's dunk was probably the highlight of the game.

Worth the Wet and Waiting

Last night could have been (more) miserable. A two hour rain delay and sloppy working conditions were remedied somewhat by a Sox win and $20 that a smug New York Post photographer bet me that the Yankees would win.

What can I say about the New Yankee Stadium? It's huge. It has the biggest jumbotron I've ever seen. It feels very corporate. Lots of empty seats. Fenway Park is cooler.

The photo positions in New York are weird/terrible/poorly thought out and you have to shoot through a lot of netting. Despite that though, there is no TV camera next to the dugout (unlike Fenway) which made for some interesting shots.
