This blog post has been a long time coming. My blogging hiatus is officially over as I've decided to share my work regularly again. The only change is that I've decided to post other work aside from just Red Sox images...more to come on that later.
These images were shot today at Fenway Park for an upcoming story on David Ortiz in the Red Sox Magazine. Ortiz...GREAT guy.
Finally! Darnell McDonald, called up from the minors earlier in the day, hit a pinch-hit two-run homer to tie the game in the eighth (top photo) and won it with an RBI single in the ninth (2nd photo). That snapped a five game losing streak, gave the Fenway crowd something to cheer about and gave me some good pictures. Welcome to Boston Darnell!
The Red Sox faced the Twins yesterday in the first-ever game at the new Target Field. I never visited the Metrodome, but every one I talked to was delighted with the improvements and the prospect of watching baseball the way it was meant to be watched-outdoors. Sadly (for me, not the fans) the Jon Lester and the Sox sputtered right from the start and lost another one.
They were betting that we were going to burn down the Player Development Complex during this Mag cover shoot. After photographing John we dipped a ball in rubbing alcohol using a wire coat hanger (kind of like coloring an Easter egg) and lit it on fire. That was the most interested in a photo shoot I've seen the players/coaches/staff so far...
While the players are stretching, throwing, signing autographs and conducting interviews the I'm running around desperately trying to figure out ways to make things look interesting. Tomorrow I'll try again...
